SmartMoves helps you remember the people you meet at events. You scan someone's LinkedIn QR code, and the app saves a contact record matched to the calendar event you were at. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we need it, and what we will never do with it.
This app is operated by SmartMoves. For any privacy question, or to request a copy or deletion of your data, contact privacy@smartmovescode.com.
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your email address and password | To create your account and sign you in. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them. |
| Your name, phone number and country | Your profile. Your name is used to sign off the LinkedIn connection notes the app drafts for you. |
| Your LinkedIn profile URL | To generate the QR code that other people scan to find you. |
| Contacts you create — name, role, company, LinkedIn URL and your notes | This is the product. It is your record of who you met and where. |
| Google Calendar events — title, date, time, location, attendees and status | To work out which event you were at when you logged a contact, and to let you create events from inside the app. |
| Error reports — the error message, which screen it happened on, and the app version you were running | So we can fix faults without asking you to reproduce them. These contain no contact details. |
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. It is a separate step from signing in, you can skip it, and the app works without it — you can create your own events instead. We never use Google as a way to log you in.
We request a single Google permission:
| Scope | What we do with it |
|---|---|
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events |
Read — list your events, so the app can match a contact
to the event you were at and show your upcoming events. Write — create an event when you add one from inside the app, so it lands on your real calendar instead of only in SmartMoves. |
We do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, or any other Google service. We read only calendar events, and we create only the events you explicitly ask us to create. We never modify or delete events we did not create on your behalf.
Two kinds of data here describe people who are not our users: the contacts you create, and the attendee lists on calendar events you have synced. We hold this only because you asked us to keep your own record of people you have met, and we process it on your behalf. We do not contact these people, build profiles on them, or share their details with anyone.
If you are not a SmartMoves user and believe we hold information about you, write to privacy@smartmovescode.com and we will locate it and delete it.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of processors purely to run the service:
We may disclose data if we are legally compelled to.
Your contacts and notes are kept until you delete them or close your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, contacts, notes, synced events and stored Google connection. Error reports are kept for a short period for debugging and contain no contact details.
SmartMoves is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle Google user data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
